Ms. Augustine is a special education teacher at Public School 29 in Castleton Corners and has been employed by the New York City Department of Education for more than a decade.
Teaching in an Integrated Collaborative Team Teaching setting, she establishes and executes the curriculum for students with disabilities and works with them to achieve grade-level standards. Additionally, she ensures that IEP paperwork is up to date and holds meetings with parents to assess them of their child’s progress.
Ms. Augustine has been a grade leader at PS 29, acting as the primary liaison between her grade and the school’s administration. She coordinates WISE, an after-school homework program for students grades K-5.
Before joining the DOE, she was a general education teacher in North Haven, Connecticut, for two years.
Ms. Augustine holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in English and a master’s degree in Childhood Education. She and her husband, Bernie Augustine, have a daughter, Olivia Lynn. When she is away from the classroom, she enjoys time with her family and friends and summer weekends at the beach.
