Sundog seeks an energetic Arts Education Coordinator to support activities in approximately 50 schools in Staten Island. Reporting to and trained by the Arts Education Manager, the coordinator will have an active relationship with schools to ensure Sundog’s arts programs are serving each in the best possible way.
The ideal candidate will be a confident, strategic, and creative thinker with arts education interest or experience. This position has room for upward growth as Sundog is a growing organization. We are prioritizing the right candidate and are open to discussion around schedule and employee or contractor status.
The position is available immediately and we will accept applications on a rolling basis until the right person is found. The job can be either part-time or full-time depending on the availability of the ideal candidate. The hours largely coincide with school hours – before and after – so the ideal candidate will be available between 8am and 5pm. The position involves a variety of activities and no day is the same, which may mean that evening or weekend availability may be required sporadically.
Job Responsibilities:
–Work with school/community organizations to select or tailor programs that meet objectives
–Determine the best match between teaching artists (TAs) and schools
–Coordinate TAs and their school residencies and maintain records of them
–Process forms, grant reports, spreadsheets, and budgets for school residencies
–Generate work orders
–Communicate with schools/TAs about schedules
–Attend in-school programs and culminating performances/showings
–Schedule planning meetings and residencies with TAs and schools
–Handle TA/program evaluations with detail
–Assist in implementing current and developing strategies in arts curricula
–Attend AIE workshops, conferences, and meetings as a Sundog representative when needed
–Keep school, teacher, and TA contact information updated
–Order and deliver supplies to schools when needed
Job Requirements and Qualifications:
–A passion for and belief in arts education
–Demonstrated interest or background in the arts
–Superior organizational and management skills
–Assertive, with the willingness to take action
–Should be familiar with Staten Island
–Experience with the NYC DOE is helpful
–Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
–Superior interpersonal people skills and diplomacy
–Excellent problem-solving abilities, willingness to be open
–Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and meet deadlines is imperative
–Thorough in all aspects of work and sets high expectations for self
–Strong written and verbal communication skills
–Knowledge of email, internet, & computer-based programs such as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
–Ability to collect and analyze data to provide recommendations to supervisor
–Enthusiastic and activity-oriented
–Willingness to step up to what needs to be done at any given time
–Sense of humor

Education Requirements:
Bachelor’s or two-year degree or equivalent experience
Compensation:
Medical insurance and paid holidays/PTO for F/T employee.
Salary for F/T: $50,000 – salary commensurate with experience. Salary raise after first year as employee takes on additional responsibilities.
