Sundog Theatre (Susan Fenley producer, Natalie Marzial/Sammy Quinn Director/Choreo) seeks an organized stage/road manager for its short tour of popular 1-hour educational musical, “Ellis Island: Gateway to a Dream” that tours every spring.
Sundog Theatre is a performing arts organization offering the following:
- Arts-in-education programs in theatre, dance, music, and visual arts to help make learning come alive in schools
- Contemporary, original, and thought-provoking theatre productions
- Touring company that travels regionally
- Acting classes for young people
Our office is based in Staten Island, NY. We get around – performance and education spaces are located in various theaters, schools, parks, churches, colleges, museums, zoos, and cultural centers.
Job Responsibilities:
Touring Stage/Road Manager for Sundog Theatre’s “Ellis Island: Gateway to a Dream”
Approximately 11 daytime show dates between Mar 9 – 25 or 26. Shows are in large venues & schools in NYC, NJ, and CT. Non-union. We MAY ask you to drive (if you do) for an extra daily fee.
Rehearsal: 6 daytimes at end of Feb/beginning of Mar, all in Staten Island, NY.
Out of NYC show transportation/hotel/meals covered.
Road/Stage Manager Responsibilities:
– Attend/stage manage rehearsals/performances. Set up space/stage beforehand with actors.
– Create/distribute contact sheet with show personnel and performers.
– Interface with venue reps to communicate technical needs and ensure smooth show execution.
– Coordinate load-ins and load-outs, rehearsals, sound checks.
– Address venue-specific requirements and confirm technical and hospitality needs.
– Address any unexpected issues. This can range from technical or cast issues to travel.
– Communication with actors/producer/director about schedule, changes, and tour details.
– At schools, manage setup/sound operation and connect with school rep.
– Take care of body mic setup/care and oversee props/costumes/set setup by actors.
– Submit daily rehearsal/performance reports.
– Make sure all actors assist with load-in/set-up/load-out of set, props, costumes.
– Keep in close contact with director, producer, TD, and members of production team as needed.
– Manage inventory of props, costumes, and equipment at last show.
Compensation:
Flat fee of $2,500. More pay if additional shows are booked.
