Executive/Artistic Director
Susan Fenley co-founded Sundog Theatre in 2002. She sets the company’s strategic direction, co-produces its shows, and is responsible for funding, planning, marketing, and executive decisions. Susan was recently honored by City & State NY as part of the 2024 Staten Island Power 100 and is a recipient of the Chamber of Commerce Louis R. Miller Leadership Award.
She is a member of Actors Equity and Screen Actors Guild. Susan’s background as a professional actor and singer–as well as theatrical administrative experience in funding, education, and communication–led her to co-create an organization that employs all these skills. As a former teaching artist for several NYC arts providers, she believes in the power of the arts as tools for education and transformation.
Previously, Susan headed Prime Time Communications–her own public relations/marketing firm in the Washington DC area–for 10 years. She has taught at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and Paper Mill Playhouse and currently teaches acting in the Theatre Department at Wagner College where she was honored with the Adjunct Faculty Award for Exceptional Performance. As a speaker, Susan has presented for organizations such as Rotary International, NYC Dept. of Education, United Activities Unlimited, Snug Harbor Cultural Center, Chamber of Commerce, and Historic Richmond Town.
She attended U.S. International University’s School of Performing Arts and holds a B.A. in Arts Management from University of Massachusetts.
